DESCRIPTION:The festival Passions et lamentations will take the public on a journey back in time to the 17th century and its never-ending collection of church music composers.\n\n– Concert on Friday April 19, 2019 : Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber: Rosenkranzsonaten\nThis unique cycle is composed of 15 sonatas that hold a key position in the history of violin playing: by using different scordatures – a way of reconnecting the instrument’s empty strings – and by refined rhetorical means, the composer creates images and associations for the listener, such as the anguish before Jesus’ imprisonment, or the Crucifixion and the Ascension of Christ.
