His father, Pietro Antonio Fiocco, a renowned Venetian composer, invited by all the European courts, notably composed prologues for four operas by Jean-Baptiste Lully, before settling in the Belgian capital.\n****\nAnyone familiar with André Campra’s motets will not be able to help but think of the French composer and of the very French way of handling ornamentation as described in Montéclair’s treatise when listening to certain passages of Brehy‘s Requiem. As for his motets, they take the form of the Italian four-part motet, with basso continuo and violin tops, for a new Flemish style that is strongly influenced by the French in the conduct of the musical phrase, its articulation and ornamentation.\n****\n“The Victor Hugo Association, a non-profit-making association recognised as being of public utility and committed to the defence of the French language and culture, also supports original and ambitious projects when they are anchored in Luxembourg or have a European scope.
